Toddler Drowns In Five Gallon Bucket

This investigation was initiated from a Television News Report. The investigation revealed that, on 03/01/95, at approximately 9:30 pm, a 14-1/2-month-old boy apparently was running his hands through approximately 38 inches of a liquid solution, containing water, bleach, and detergent, which was in a 5-gallon bucket. The boy was rescued by his aunt, apparently within minutes after falling into the bucket, and he was taken to the hospital, where he subsequently died from the drowning at approximately 5:03 am on 03/02/95.

Never leave a child alone near a water bucket.

Over 200 children ages 12-24 months have drowned.

Only a few seconds left alone and a few inches of water are enough to
drown a child.
